Business Machines & Mechanical Felt
Southern Felt is the premier supplier of felts for business machine components and the metals processing industries. With state-of-the-art production and inspection equipment, our products can meet the most critical tolerances for these demanding end-uses.
Copiers, fax machines, and high-speed commercial printers utilize felts for fusing, cleaning, and absorption. In addition to tight thickness specifications, these products often require specialty fiber blends for their wicking and thermal resistance properties.
For processing large aluminum and steel coils, our felts can be used for protection and handling, tensioning, polishing, and absorption of surface oils. With extensive capabilities for thickness, weight, and density, Southern Felt can supply a wide range of products for these applications.
Appliance
Needlepunched nonwovens have a long history of use in home appliances such as washers and dryers. With the introduction of modern synthetic fibers and specialty chemical treatments such as PTFE and Flame Retardant coatings, Southern Felt can offer engineered solutions for gaskets, seals, wicks, filtration, and insulation applications in the Home Appliance sector. Through multiple divisions of Andrew Industries, finished parts can be produced through vertical integration and supplied on a global basis.
Laundry
Andrew Industries has a long tradition of manufacturing technical textiles for the laundry market to meet the performance criteria for its many applications. We can trace our production roots in this industry back to the founding of the company in 1894.
As a division of Andrew Industries, Southern Felt produces a wide range of needle punch nonwovens to meet the demanding requirements found in commercial laundries today. Applications include pads for large and small diameter ironers and return ribbons for heated cylinder ironers.
Our product range consists of felts made from polyester, meta-aramid, and other specialty fibers. Whether in blends or as a 100% uniform material, our products offer performance advantages when aggressive conditions such as temperature, chemicals, and moisture are present.
